Finished My Second to Last Semester!

I didn’t know which GIF to pick, so please pick one from this list: http://mashable.com/2013/08/06/success-gifs/

I’m feeling pretty great right now because I finished my semester last night! This year, I took Geospatial Information Systems, Project Management, and Client-Server Systems. I barely had programming to do outside of Client-Server, so that was nice. I also discovered that I like the GIS field! It’s pretty interesting, so I’m going to take another class next semester. Project Management was a random choice, but it will be very useful to me in my future because I’m interested in getting into technology consulting. It was amazing the amount of stuff that I took out of that class and applied it to my previous and future work experiences. I picked Client-Server Systems because I had some interest in telecommunications. It’s not really my thing; I find the concepts challenging. But, I liked that I challenged myself and now I have a better understanding of networks, etc.

I’m very excited that I am entering my last semester at the iSchool. While I love this place, I’m ready to go back home and start the new chapter of my life in the work world.

Time to celebrate the holidays!!! YAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!

Pitt Students Take A Stand

Yesterday, I went to a protest/die-in at the Towers. Students wanted to express their feeling about the recent police brutality that has been going on across the nation. I’m very proud to be a Panther and be a part of something so powerful. There were some who laughed and looked down at the protestors, but overall, I really saw unity among the university.

Did You Complete the OMET?

Screen Shot 2014-11-24 at 12.13.22 PM

The OMET survey is sent out to students every semester for feedback on their courses. The survey results are provided to the instructor to improve his/her course. A lot of people don’t fill out the survey because they don’t see point; they think that professors ignore their concerns. But, that isn’t completely true! A lot of instructors are concerned about their courses and want the content and their approach to be useful to their students. Take the OMET. You might see these teachers again and if you don’t, you’ll be improving the program for the next group of students! Show the school that you care about your courses and speak up where it counts! I just finished mine! It took less than 10 minutes 🙂
