Join the Discussion: iCCC Panel Luncheon

iCCC15

On Friday, April 3rd at 12:30pm, the Diversity Student Organization and co-sponsors, ASIS&T and Doctoral Guild, will be hosting a 2nd annual panel luncheon with Dean Ronald Larsen and other  insightful faculty. Take a look at the recap of last year’s event here!

This event is an open forum where students can ask featured panelists questions around topics that we think are the important “3 C’s” of an iSchool: Careers, Curricula, and Careers.

While we completely understand that this may be a time of religious observance or heavy workload, we ask that you take the time that you have, whether 5 minutes or the full 2 hours to come share your thoughts on the iSchool. The Diversity Student Organization wants to make a difference in the school and we cannot do this without your help and participation!

If you would like to participate or have any questions/suggestions, please do not hesitate to email us dso.pitt@gmail.com or talk directly to me at jourdan.ischool.pitt@gmail.com.

Why did you choose Pitt?

The process of applying to Pitt as an international student was rather simple and smooth. The Student Services team was replying to my queries and was helpful in my application process. Dr. Linus Pauling said “Satisfaction of one’s curiosity is one of the greatest sources of happiness in life”, my inspiration to pursue engineering echoed from this quote. Even as a small child, I wondered how the simplest of devices worked. This curiosity helped me understand my coursework while enjoying what I learned. I decided to pursue my Masters in Computer Networking and Telecom after I took and internship at BSNL (the largest telecom and network company in India). I was introduced to topics such as broadband tech, switching systems, digital transmissions, mobile communication, and telecom support infrastructure. This experience made me realize how very little I knew, which instilled in me a desire to learn more.

Pitt Students Take A Stand

Yesterday, I went to a protest/die-in at the Towers. Students wanted to express their feeling about the recent police brutality that has been going on across the nation. I’m very proud to be a Panther and be a part of something so powerful. There were some who laughed and looked down at the protestors, but overall, I really saw unity among the university.
